The Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival is an annual fundraising event organized by the Superior Rotary Club and Duluth's Harbortown Rotary Club. The race is held in the Superior Bay off Barkers Island in Superior, Wisconsin and includes a traditional dragon boat race as well as a host of festivities.

The marathon follows the same course Grandma's marathoners run along. There will be 5,000 inline skaters who will test their endurance in the 10th annual NorthShore Inline Marathon. It is the largest inline marathon and World Cup event in the U.S.A. The marathon begins just south of Two Harbors and continues along Hwy 61, rolling through the I-35 tunnels, and finishing at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC).

The long-running, five-day John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon was established in 1982. It is a race that follows the spirit of frontier adventure established at the turn of the century by John Beargrease, along with a host of other North Shore mail carriers. There are week long activities in Duluth to celebrate this event, including a Cutest Puppy Contest.

Fitger's Bockfest celebrates local brew Split Rock Bock beer. Events include a campfire in the Fitger's Courtyard, live entertainment, stein races, eating contests and, of course, the sampling of Split Rock Bock beer. As ever, there is also the yearly polar bear plunge for those brave enough to try it.
